Skills Curriculum

Builds knowledge, creates a shared therapeutic language, and develops essential skills.

Oak Grove Academy uses evidence-based curricula matched to each student’s lagging skills and level of functioning. Skills are taught in both group and individual settings, tailored to the goals and objectives outlined in each student’s treatment plan. Skill areas may include executive functioning, language and communication, emotional and self-regulation, and cognitive flexibility.

Skills groups focus on building a broad range of abilities, while individual coaching targets specific goals. Examples of evidence-based curricula used at Oak Grove Academy include adapted Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the Skills System, Skillstreaming, and Zones of Regulation.
